Frequently Asked Questions

How does PullPilot review my pull requests?

When you open or update a PR, GitHub sends a webhook event to PullPilot. Our backend analyzes the diff, applies your custom .aipr.yml rules, and posts inline suggestions directly to the modified lines of code on GitHub.

Is my proprietary code stored or used to train AI models?

We do store parts of your repository so the AI can read the code around your changes, which is what lets it catch problems the diff alone cannot show. That code is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. It is kept for as long as your repository stays connected to PullPilot, and is deleted when you disconnect the repository. We do not use your code to train AI models. Your selected provider or Ollama operator controls its own processing and retention policies.

How do I ignore certain files (like lockfiles or dist/)?

Add a .aipr.yml or .github/.aipr.yml file to the root of your repository with an ignore list, e.g.: ignore: - "dist/**" - "package-lock.json" - "*.min.js"

Where can I check my review usage?

Your dashboard shows your private review usage and remaining quota. If your monthly quota is reached, private reviews become available again when it resets.

Can I review before pushing with Claude Code, Codex or another coding assistant?

Yes. Install the local CLI and use delegated review with your coding agent’s model. No separate Pull Pilot provider API key or GitHub App installation is required. Your agent still needs its normal access. Use the local review setup guide for commands and a prompt.

Can I use my own OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude API key?

Yes! Navigate to the API Key Vault on your dashboard, enter your API key, and select your preferred provider. Your key is stored with AES-256-GCM encryption.
